Safety is Talisman’s top priority in all of our operating areas – and Peru is no exception. Working in remote regions of the Amazon forest poses unique challenges to ensuring the health and safety of our employees and contractors. These challenges include long distances to appropriate health facilities, and the need to use the river for transportation.

We have thoroughly evaluated the safety and health risks of our operations in Peru and have in place a Contractor HSE Management System which allows us to continuously evaluate contractors’ performance.

Our safety system has already helped mitigate risks in this remote and difficult environment. To date, we have reached a safety milestone by working 1,500,000 man-hours without a lost-time incident (LTI) in our Talisman Peru operations. This means our team worked more than 200 days without a single injury that caused a worker to stay home from work.
