Multi-federation meetings

Print Page Change Text Size
Alan Murray, Country Manager of Talisman Peru, and Talisman employees, indigenous leaders and observers share a moment after a multi-federation meeting.

Since 2010, Talisman Peru has been hosting quarterly multi-federation meetings as a voluntary initiative to encourage open dialogue with indigenous communities. Attendees include leaders of indigenous federations, key authorities and third-party representatives who act as observers of the dialogue process.

This process has been invaluable in building trust with the communities and has been commended by observers such as Oxfam Confederation and other NGOs.

During each three-day dialogue process, Talisman explains our operational plans, and indigenous leaders express their needs, priorities and concerns. NGOs and consulting firms are also on hand to train participants in different areas, such as project profiles, human rights and indigenous rights.

Watch these videos for more details on the multi-federation dialogue and our capacity-building processes.
