Community Engagement

Print Page Change Text Size
An ongoing communication with indigenous communities allows us to understand and better respond to their needs and concerns.

In accordance with Talisman’s Global Community Relations Policy, Talisman strives to be a good neighbour to the communities near our operations by respecting the local culture and environment. Talisman has not and will not operate without the support of affected communities. This is our commitment.

A fair and open dialogue is at the heart of our approach to operating in Peru. The process involves workshops with neighbouring communities and other stakeholders to explain activities and listen to concerns.

Talisman works only in areas of Block 64 where we have the support of local communities. We are currently working with 66 communities organized into 11 federations representing more than 1,800 families from different ethnic groups. Talisman has agreements with FASAM, Nuevo OSHAM, OSHDEM, FESHAM, FECONASHAM, FAWABAM, FENADEM, ORCHASIM, Agricultural Producers Association of Morona - APAM, Fernando Rosas community and Puerto America Town. These organizations include people from the Achuar, Shuar, Shapra, Shawi and Awajun ethnic groups.

We will continue to work with these communities, broaden our reach to engage with more communities and, of course, listen to the concerns of those of those who do not.
