Leadership
Management actively supports our HSE programs and processes, and those of our contractors and suppliers. This is central to successful implementation and a high level of performance in HSE.
HSE Policy and Standards
Our corporate HSE Policy outlines high-level performance expectations. It is endorsed by the regional operations, and is supported by local HSE policy and standards to promote meaningful implementation worldwide.
Roles and Responsibilities
Roles and responsibilities for HSE are shared widely throughout all levels of the organization, and are explicitly communicated through written standards, practices and procedures.
Annual Objectives, Work Plans and Budgets
HSE objectives, work plans and budgets are established by the regional operations and at head office annually. HSE objectives are included in senior management performance contracts.
Incident Reporting
Systems for incident notification, investigation and reporting are implemented across the Company. This includes prompt head office notification of critical incidents globally.
Emergency Response and Crisis Management
Local and regional emergency response plans link into a corporate crisis management plan. These plans support prompt, capable response to operational and other emergencies worldwide. They are regularly updated and tested so that they remain effective.
Regulatory Compliance
Discipline specialists monitor and communicate regulatory developments to ensure that the Company's operations remain fully compliant with local laws and regulations.
Training and Competency
We provide and insist on appropriate training to ensure that our personnel and contractors are competent and can perform their work safely and effectively. Local training plans are established annually.
Safety and Environmental Audits
We regularly conduct safety and environmental audits at our operations to verify compliance with Company standards and regulatory requirements, and as a basis for continuous improvement. A high percentage of these audits include participation by independent third-party specialists.
Reporting Our HSE Performance
Operations line management, senior management and the Board of Directors receive regular reports on our HSE performance. Our reporting includes both leading and lagging indicators. Selected performance measures are reported externally to the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and the United Kingdom Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA). Talisman is a Platinum level participant in CAPP's HSE Stewardship Program. Talisman also produces an annual Corporate Responsibility Report which highlights our health safety and environmental performance.
